I was playing on DH's Discover account page. He was carrying a large balance, of like $4800 on a $6000 CL. I BT'd it out, and the BT hit last week, and the statement period closed. Then I went playing, and the love button was there. I hit it, started playing around, put BT as the reason, but never filled in the rest of the boxes, or submitted. Today? Auto CLI of $1200, so the new CL is $7200.
The BT offer he had yesterday was awful. 0% APR, 6 months, but a BT fee of 5%. It is still there, but now also prominent on his home page. 5% at only 6 months is awful. I won't do it.
I have seen on the boards where they have called people after they played around with the button.
If you have the button, and are afraid of a HP, go in and play and do not submit. It MIGHT trigger a CLI. Of course, it could be coincidence since the balance is down, but I don't think so. The timing is just too "perfect". After reading what other people her have said, and what just happened to us, I now FIRMLY believe they monitor what happens with that button.
