ok all you bb mc account holders

just got my bill havent had a balance on this card in a month or two, well other than a tank of gas or something, got the statement and there is a stinking $39 af on it. i dont even remember this card having one but obviously so..has anyone been sucessful in getting this removed by calling cust svc or what? any info would be greatly appreciated..

The way to do it is to call and cancel, or threaten too. They will transfer you to an account specialist who will waive the fee for 1 year and maybe even give a small cli. That is what worked for me up until a couple of months ago, where I decided I was going to cancel no matter what. Hopefully they are still adamant about retaining customers.

Bama- I have this card, but there is no AF. You could always call and tell them that you didn't know it had one and see if they can waive it.

I recently closed my plain-jane HSBC card that had a $59 AF and $700 cl. The AF is due next month and they transferred me a couple of times, I guess to retention as I called the number on the back of my card.

They didn't hesitate to close it because I told them that I didn't want to keep a card with an AF and this was the last of them. Oh well. I didn't really want it anyway. So, I would becareful about threatening to cancel unless you are prepared to lose the card. They sure didn't try to keep me. They didn't offer to waive, reduce, etc. Times are getting tough!

hmmm bit sure i'd hate for them to close it even though i dont use it much, my card has a $2000 cl and i guess it has a $39 annual fee but i hate paying to have a card this is the only one of my cards that has an af

oh also if it matters they have NEVER given me a cli on this card i've had it since 11/07 i haven't even seen a soft or anything,a  month back i was going to cancel got to an accout specialist who tried to tell me they dont have the ability to raise a cl the system is the only one who can do it??!!!
