cancel first premier before activation?

I got approved for a first premier card.  didn't even know about it, but when my CU pulled my report today it was on there.  $250 limit with $179 already charged to it.

Guy at Credit Union said if I could cancel that (never activate it) he would give me a $500cl card with no fees and 13% flat rate!

so is it possible to to cancel or 'refuse' the first premier card?

from what I understand it ships activated and your stuck with it and have to pay the balance.  If so, no biggy I will keep it and pay it, but after i got that card, I have gotten several other much better ones and some AU's so I don't really need it.

you may want to call their csr, I think I read a post somewhere that you may have to pay the initial fee but then once you close it (before making any purchases) they will do a refund of the fee.   But dont hold me to this!!  =-)

yep, if you don't activate they will close and credit it all back.  I have an article if you need to quote the CEO that they do that.

I apped for this card in May of 2007 and after getting the card and seeing all of the fees I decided it wasn't worth it. I called and cancel them and it was all good. The card shows on my reports with a 0 balance and the comment close by consumer. I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone.

Are you saying that you never applied for the card and its on your credit report?

Ahh No....Thats dirty!

You get on the phone like pronto and talk to their customer service department and tell them to cancel.

Now if this is one of their tipical offers with the paper card that comes in the mail ignore it. That doesn't mean your have to accept their crappy offer! And further more if that is what they are up to, Mailing out those offers and trying to active without the customer I smell a class action law suit.

no ash, sorry i wasn't more clear.  I did apply for the card online I thought it was all I would be able to get.  I just never got a response whether I was approved or not.  and now that I can get a much better card with my Credit Union with no fees, I'd rather not have the first premier.

i got that card and kicked it to the curb immediately.  they don't tell you your cl and then you get that 250 minus 178 in charges.  What a ripoff.  Call and cancel and they will take charges off.  It will report on cr though.  What a RIP-OFF!!

Even Applied bank is better.
