cap1 combining cc's question...

hey, I have a quick question I have 2 cap1's both with a balance. Can I combine them now or should I wait till I pif them? Also does anybody have a backdoor number I can call if combining them is advisable? Thanks in advance for your advise

There are several post about combining cap1 accounts (i have a post as well). But from understanding you can do that when with balances. The Backdoor numbers are posted at the top of the forum. Hopefully this helps you

I would go for it now.  I have 4 cards with Cap 1.  One had a very low interest rate so I called them and asked if I could move the other 3 over and they did it, no problem.  The best part is that the other 3 are still showing up on my CR as active with 0 balances, so this also increased my total available CL for all by the sum of those 3 cards.  Now I show 1 card with a high CL and 3 small CL cards on my CR.  Much better than having 4 CC with small CL's.  (Yes, I had bal's on those cards at the time of transfer)

I called Cap One two days ago and combined a 4300 with a 5000. It works just fine. The number I used was  Cap1: 800-889-993.

FYI-

Cap one will leave the abandoned accounts unupdated and open on your reports - after 9 months dispute them closed,

Don't do it before this - as they will count positive it ULT for 9 months,

soooo I called and sure enough they were combined, I was hoping for a CLI offer lol but no such luck, I'll ask for one in a couple months when i pif the card. thanks again guys

i called tonight the backdoor number to have my caps combined. it was no problem. it was put on the one with the lower APR and it still has an AF . i am just happy to have one bill now. Thanks to the forums and months of stressing about it

I'm not totally sure on this, but I put the new card on to the older card. I wanna keep the card history with the oldest records.

I have had both cards since 2006; so it really did not make difference the age of the cards for me.
