under the consultation of a dear friend, i mistakenly closed my cc with capital one due to a low credit line a little over one month ago. it was in haste. anyway, i called literally 14 times and no luck. has anyone had any luck re-opening an account with them? if so, how?

I didnt re-open, I just got another one with them.
well, me wanting to re-open stems from continuing an existing credit history. did you try backdating by any chance?

these days it's SO RARE for creditors to re-open closed accounts.
When you close an account they ask if you are sure. Then state that if you close the account, it is permanant and that account can never be re-opened. Or at least thats what they told me.
You may just need to reapply for a new card.
did you try back dating?

There is no backdating with Cap-1 on top of no re-opening a closed account. If you have closed it so be it, I would not even be considering them for a new app.
Why do you want to re-open your low credit line Capital One account? If I was your friend, I would have told you to get rid of it as well, unless there were some kind of fantastic rewards on it that you couldn't get anywhere else.
i wanted to re-open the card because i had a 10-yr history with them. so essentially, i wiped away that great line of an established account. i hope that makes sense. HOWEVER, my differences with CAP1 made me realize that much better was out there like AMEX. so i guess it all worked out for the best. but i am curious to know if you think it was still a good idea to close despite the low credit line

That history will remain on your reports for a period of years, and your AAoA will not be immediately affected.
