chase freedom 5% extra points is in addition to the original 5%?

123.png

so i actually spent a bit over $1400 on Amazon.com to purchase a surface book on amazon.com before the extra 5% promotion came up and then i made another purchase of surface pro 4 for a friend which i spent $1799 on amazon.com after 11/23/15

but look at the 4Q 5% category.. if it was not in addition to the original 5%, it would have been 6000 at top?

honestly i have no idea how that 14482 was counted.. it seemed like they gave me not only around 1400* 4 but 1799 * 4 which would be close to 14482.. i think... well, actually still not so close.. so i guess i really dont get it..

not that i am not happy with the points.. but.. its just weird...

Your best bet to maintain sanity is to go to your Chase account online, the Freedom Account Activity, then for the specific transaction, click the plus sign to the left to open the specific detail for how that transaction is contributing points. This is from a 10points Amazon purchase after the update.

May I ask how you get so many different points that i don't have? such as the 10% extra points per $1 (i think this is having  a checking account w/ them), and what is that bonus 10 point s on very purchase? that seems to be sweet, but i don't have it.. Smiley Sad

Sure, ask away Smiley Happy

I do have a Chase checking account, and the 10% extra thing is published as going away in early 2016. The 10 points per swipe some others have had that, but so few people still have it that it's a real Unicorn now, so I'm buying my daily coffee with that; $2 for the coffee, 12+ UR points, cha-ching. As long as the register is clicking that many points in my account, which honestly may end on 1/1/2016, the Freedom card is the one card that is always in my wallet, just in case there's some small purchase that I need to make, like an $0.85 vending machine purchase.

Did you look at your computer purchase transaction details? What does that show?

I did.. It does show on both transactions that I got the extra 4 points on the two transactions and the one that I made after 11/23 has a 5% extra bonus points..

So I guess when the promotion came out, they just kinda reset everything like when a sallie mae statement cuts? i am not sure, but i don't want to ask chase to give them a chance to take away my points.. haha

so the $10 points per swipe was also something related to the chase checking account?

Right, they said that the $1,500 resets, so you could make 5% on the first $1,500  you spend before the promo and 10% on the next $1,500 after

That's the most likely answer.

There's also the conspiracy theory answer: They gave me so many CLD on larger balances back in the day, and even CLD this Freedom card from $3,500 to $1,500 in three steps, that they feel guilty and are making it up to me. As with most conspiracy theories, it's more fun to talk about them than try to prove them out. Smiley Happy
