I'd say Chase is a bit tougher. You can usually squeeze into Discover with a 650 on the low end and Chase won't go that low.
I agree with boomhower. They are really pushing the Discover It card right now. I seem to get a pre-approval notice from them once a week. I think their standards may be a bit lower than Chase although I have read on this forum that people have had great experiences with Chase on recon.

I had a rough time with Chase recon for the Freedom but the approval was instant for the Discover It.

IMO they are about the same, with Chase probably being a tad harder to get. What kind of CL did you get from Discover??
Congratulations!!! The Freedom is a tough nut to crack if you have a short credit history, but otherwise they are pretty much equivalent in underwriting standards.
