Local, IMO.

They tend to make special exceptions if you live nearby and you visit them in person.

Re: credit unions--which is preferred????????

I have used Service Credit Union / Affinity Federal Credit Union. Some people had very good luck with CCCU / NASA / Sherifs. You might search the forum for CU and you would find several good posts.

Re: credit unions--which is preferred????????

I like patelco. I just signed up with them and so far its been a good experience. If i send a fax are email asking a question they get right back to you with the answers within 12 to 24 hours. Some of the other companies i deal with takes 2 to 3 days to answer a email

Here's a nice dithering reply: one of each!

The CU's with national presence seem to have a lot of money available for big CL's. But local ones are very approachable, and many will give you much quicker approvals than the big guys, who seem to get backed up periodically.

I belong to both USAA (works like a CU) and to a local one, and we do lots of business with both.

Re: credit unions--which is preferred????????

My local one is really good - that is always a good place to start
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Local CU is the way to go -

The only bad thing about my CU is it's across the street from Home Depot.
