discover miles card sign up bonus

Not sure if this has been talked about but just some smiple math with the sign up bonus for the discover miles card compared to two capital one cards:

Spend 500 on quicksliver get 100 back plus 7.50 for 1.5% on that spend for a total of 107.50

To get the same bonus on on the miles card you have to spend 3585 at 3% back to get 107.55

To match the miles on say the venture card bonus at 46000 miles or $460 towards travel- 40k sign up bonus and 6000 miles for the spend on 3k

You need to spend $15350 to get $460.50 towards miles

Seems like a really bad deal if you ask me....

3% unlimited in the first year and Norweigian cruise lines make it really worthwhile. Just saying.
