discover

[ Edited ]

so tempted to app for this right now but i should wait until jan... I have 3 inq on equifax that would stop affecting my score in jan since they would've aged by 1 yr.  Am i right in thinking this?

The reason im tempted to app now is because im also thinking of closing my cap one before the af becomes due next month...

Guys, what are your thoughts?  I pulled EQ and its 668.  Low but if I paid down 2 balances, I'd expect a jump next month...  Suggestions?  I was hoping to have the Cap One still open and reporting when apping for the new card but perhaps it wouldn't matter as it's my lowest limit card...  Thoughts?

Re: discover

Discover is very easy to qualify for. I would encourage you to apply right away to take advantage of this quarter's 5% cash back.

Re: discover

I would pay down the balance as you suggested and wait til January.

You can close your Cap1 within 30 days of receiving the annual fee and they will have to credit it back to you.  This will give you that extra time you are looking for.

How many inq's do you have total on EQ and TU?  with a 668 you would probably be considered for it, but they would more than likely pull both reports.

Re: discover

Are you going to be doing a lot of online shopping in the next 16 days?  If the answer is no then wait for your Util and other stuff is under control.  If you will be spending $1500 on online shopping I would say it is worth a shot.  Remember to use shop discover to stack the cash back.  If not then wait.  I am all about the $$$.

Re: discover

My mom has a 785 FICO score and over 20 years of credit history and was denied for a Discover after recieving an INVITE! LOL. Shes very happy with her BofA card.

The truth is out there...
FICO scores: 764 (EQ) 732 (EX) 757 (TU) 9/14 | Goal score: 750+ (all 3)
Tradelines: Capital One QS NPSL (5.0k) | Discover IT (6.0k) | Walmart Mastercard (5.0k) | Chase Freedom NPSL (7.3k) | Citi Simplicity (9.3k)

Re: discover

My TU score is healthier than EQ but I have 6 INQ on it.  Most of which is over 1 yr old guaranteed.  I haven't apped for anything this year that pulled TU.  As a matter of fact my CLI HP with BofA just went through TU.  So I would say that that is the most recent INQ.

I do intend to do quite a bit of online shopping but I also have my BofA Cash Rewards for that.

The BofA card only gives you 1% back from online shopping...

I'd hate to waste an inquiry and get declined...

Re: discover

oh, when I do the pre-approved offers thing on the website, Discover More pops up!  Is that an indication of a possible approval?
