Thanks!!  Basically I app'ed for it to get the 15 month 0% BT, so the APR didnt really bother me.  Once I pay off the balance transfer I will attempt to PC this into something more useful for making purchases OR sock draw it and apply for a different product, assuming my scores have increased even more within that timeframe.

What were you approved for? Did you apply for both Chase Freedom and Slate?

$3200.00, enough to offload a discover balance and BOA balance...    I was contemplating trying for the Freedom also, for the signup bonus, but didnt want to push my luck...

Okay so you got the Slate. I'm cash bonus sign up hungry but I didn't even to consider the Freedom because I knew that they had the 5 new account rule. I ran into the article while looking for juicy cash back bonus credit cards. I really have all the cash back card that I'll ever need. I'll just wait 24 months and see what's new by then.

Been in the garden for all of 1 month, and ran a quick pre-qual, and both the Slate and Freedom pop up, finally got my foot in the door with chase (possibly?)...Are their prequals solid?????

Should I respond, or head back into the garden!!???!?!

Does your credit profile and scores support a Slate or Freedom credit card or a you barely on the cusp of meeting the minimum criteria?  It's more imprtant to get a credit card with a nice SL and low APR than to just barely make it in the door. After you have evaluated your credit profile and asked yourself the tough questions, you will have your answer. Best of luck!

Now to answer your question. I don't care about APR because I never carry a balance. I'm just in it for the sign up bonus and cash back rewards. So I wouldn't care even if I just "barely [made] it in the door." Smiley Wink

I don't believe I asked you a question; however, it never seems to stop you. I'm glad APR and barely getting through the door is not an issue for you. Keep up the good work!Smiley Very Happy

And yes, your advice is perfectly fine for those who often carry a balance. I never do. I never buy anything I don't have the cash for just incase some financial hardship or an unexpected bill arises. Hence the reason I search for sign up bonuses and cash back rewards. Smiley Very Happy

Credit card companies are leaning on the fact that only a small percent of consumers do not ever carry a balance, and that eventually those that do not carry a balance, a large percentage of them will in the future,  but I'm worst news to all lenders. I never buy anything I can not afford nor can not pay off immediately as already explained above. They will only make the minimum from me each time I swipe their card with a merchant. That is about it, ever.
