barclay gives 2x cash back on american express gift cards through their rewards boost! this brings up the question as to whether or not they would be treated as a cash advance or just a purchase...anyone know?
Citi yes, most others no
The wiki at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1412472-topcashback-2-25-amex-gift-cards-but-ch... lists the latest known stats. For Barclays it has, under Recently shown as a purchase:
-All Barclays cards (Arrival, Lufthansa, Sallie Mae, Travelocity Amex, US Airways)
So while that doesn't list Rewards specifically, the odds are good. But do a smaller purchase first if you want to make sure.

Juggalo9er, interested in knowing how it's classified. I hadn't seen that so if you or anyone makes a purchase please post a followup. Thx
