Re: have any of you...

My biggest utl is my insurance for 475 a month besides my rent...im a 21 yeard old whos never home so not much spending on groceries or gas/electricity. I dont have any car loans either. My biggest spendings are gas, clothes and just going out. I can easily meet the 3k by just paying my car insurance, phone and just making it my everyday card.

If you do that, you're officially a slave to your credit.

I wouldn't ever do it, my spend is usually enough to hit the sign up bonuses on any credit card within reason.  But it you did apply for one and found yourself not able to hit the spend it's a last resort that works.

Re: have any of you...

Just a thought but maybe you have a friend or family member who has something like a bill, car payment, insurance, etc that you can put on the card after they give you the money.  That could be a way to hit the 3k mark within 3 months faster as well.

also i read somewhere that a college student got in debt because of trying to meet the requirements for the sign up bonuses of multiple cards.

If so, they are an idiot. Chase let's you purchase bank accounts without a cash advance fee; that is the easiest and quickest way to meet spending requirements with them.

Well I don't live off them, but I do buy gift cards to get 5% back at supermarkets and drugstores and use them at places that I would usually only get 2% back when shopping. Also buying American Express gift cards with a 2% card can get you 3.4% back, which is a lot if you are spending a lot.

Re: have any of you...

By paying my insurance and phone which is 475+172=647 a month. Doing that for 3 months =1941. So i would only have to spend 1059.

Please tell me you drive a Porsche...$475 is insane for a monthly insurance premium.

Damn even at 23 with my supercharged corvette I was only paying $300/mo, and that was with THREE cars on my policy. You must have had a lot of wrecks or something.
