im 21 i just got credit in march with a cap one platinum mastercard limit of $300.
i used the card up to $100 every month then paid in full. checked my credit scores were in the low 700's.
so a few weeks ago i went app crazy probably pushing about 5 hard pulls lol and recieved a barclaycard rewards ($750) a cap one quicksilverone (500 and i regret apping this card.) then a discover it that i was pre approved for at 1k.
first of all how much do you think this is going to hurt my credit score for the short term?
then down the road i was looking into cards such as chase freedom, us bank cash+, and the city simplicity.
i basically eventually want two of these cards to replace my capital ones with because those are obviously going nowhere after what ive read on here.
wondering how long till the hard pulls fall off and do these banks have a minimum length of credit history for approval?
if i keep my accounts in good standing with under 30% util how long do you think until i can get approvex for these cards?
Chase typically likes to see a full year before Apping but that is all depending on each person. I got my First chase card about 8 months after getting my first card.
the Inq's will fall off your reports in 2 years but won't factor into your score after 12 months. Manual reviews of your Credit score wll still see them though.
I would just garden for a year and ask for CLI with a Soft pull.
As 1is good card. Obvious you think it's all quick. You are only 5 months in. So let cap 1 give you increase. He's right.
12 months no effect on score. But 24 months on report. Many got 10 k on quicksilver 1. You need to garden a while. And if you close your cap 1. Your oldest card. You can kiss that. 700 fico goodbye.

Not really ... It will hurt his util% but long term it will still be there for 10 years
i wasnt thinking a couple months to apply i was thinking more inbetween 8 and 24 then i would get rid of the capital one cards after the new ones. plus the reason why i wouldnt just put them in my drawer and cancel them is the annual fees. will it really hurt me that bad?
I would apply when your first card is 12 months and your new cards are 6 months!

I would ask the EO or Facebook to see if you can get the AF removed or PC to the Qs with no AF.
