I don't understand the purpose of a bank checking credit for a checking account. Seems to me like a wasted INQ.

I have opened 3 checking and savings accounts at 3 different banks within the past 60 days and all were a soft pull. (Suntrust, USAA, & Capital One).

They also do hard pulls for CLI's.

The moral of the story here for the rest of us is don't open checking accounts at US Bank!
ING pulls EQ hp when opening a checking account.

I recall it is for the purpose of identity check and to make sure you won't abuse your checking account (overdraft too often).
My BoA, USAA, TTCU, Ally, ING, and Amex Savings all were opened without a SP or HP.
I'd be in a world of hurt, if they did, as that couldn't be good for the CS!

They can get that information straight from chexsystems. And even if it were for possible overdraft abuse, the collection would not show up like that to be indentifiable, It would be under the CA's name
