i have 2 credit cards that my last late payment was in 4/07 and one 6/07. I was thinking of writing GW letters to the company but someone told me don't bother because the late payments fall off after 2 years because it happened to her and we are trying to buy a house so I wanted to know should I try it or leave it alone if the payments are going to fall off this month and 2mos from now?
this is incorrect. they typically remain on your report for about 7 years.
send all three GW letters. rinse and repeat if you have to. often times persistence pays off since it may take several attempts until you are rewarded with success in this effort. GL!

Late payments do not fall off after two years. Unless the company provides GW, they will stay on your credit for 7 years.
I would suggest trying the GW, because it cannot hurt anything and if one or both are removed, you are better off.
Lates begin to have less impact on your credit as they age, thus at 2 years, if you have maintained your credit since, will begin to be less of an issue.
