macys question

soo i called macys today asking how much i had to spend to get the black macys card since i already got the platinum early this year. they told me ive spent 2090  and need to spend 2500 to get it. i dont like anything in macys cuz mostly it doesnt fit me but what if i buy something to make it go over the 2500, call and ask to get the black macys and then lets say a week later i go and return it. would i get in trouble for that?

I don't think Macys PCs their store cards to AMEX....anyone ever done this? I have a Macys card but not the AMEX version. Anyway, if you get the Macys Amex, even though its one card, it's two tradelines still. You'd have a much higher CL in house than on your AMEX. Lets say Macys In house credit is 10k. Your Macys AMEX CL would be 6k.

As of 2017, rebuilding...

There really is no difference between platinum and elite. The only benefit for the store card platinum and elite is you get free returns.

If this is what the customer service representative told you, they are wrong. You do not have to have the elite Macys card to get the Macys Preferred card. The American Express version is better because you only have to spend $1000 to keep the black one. They also do not product change. You have to apply and they will pull a credit report and it will show up as a new tradeline.

To your original question about returning something, they will downgrade you once you get below the threshold again.

but ill already have the elite card lol and it wasnt a CSR that told me that. and yes you only have to spend 1000 to get the macys amex preferred but only once you've had the regular one. if you have the elite macys card and you call to have it changed (HP) you get the preferred straight up

Re: macys question

If you don't consider yourself a Macy's shopper, what's the point? Any enhanced benefits going to black gets you are geared towards shopping at Macy's.
