navchek approval odds???

I have nfcu and I applied for their rewards card two months ago and was declined. I've had no lates.or baddies for over a year but the frequent requests when car dealerships were running my credit dinged my credit even thoufh I was told it wouldn't. But in total my credit was run 10 times! I have two old collections that I'm working on clearing up by paying them off. But what are my chances for a navchk if I couldn't even get a credit card? Or if you could recommend recon advice or other places to try. I have usaa too and been a member since 2007. Thanks in advance .

Did you try a recon on their rewards card? I apped with them in September and applied for both the nRewards and Cash rewards credit cards and got a flat out denial. I sent a message to them via their online system and was reconsidered the very next day for both. $2500 credit limit each. I was barely a year out of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy when I did this and my scores were in the mid 600's. They pulled Transunion and I had 16 inquiries already at the time. I think you should be able to recon the rewards card. As far as the Navcheck or LOC as they call it now, It's much harder to get. It is from what I have been told on these boards a consumer loan and you actually have to sign loan documents. YMMV on this one. I thought about applying for it but held back at the last minute. Navy is very pull happy and I'm in gardening mode right now.

What kind of information is good to put in a recon message? I have three direct deposits going into that account and have for three months now so thwy can see that I have the means to pay for it. I've never had a bk but my scores are in low 600s

Probably something along these lines;

Dear NFCU Lending Committee,

I have been a member of NFCU since *blank*. I would like the Committee to know that I am so proud to be part of the largest credit union in the U.S. As satisfied member I want to avail myself of all the services that NFCU has to offer. Recently I applied for a rewards card but was denied. The reason given was *state reason*. I realize that I have had some credit challenges in the past but have done my best to reconcile them and now I am on the path towards a better credit future. I truly hope that NFCU would reconsider me for one of the rewards credit cards to assist me in getting to my goal of building a strong credit history with your prestigious institution. I am so happy to get my foot in the door with NFCU and pledge that were you to approve me for the rewards card, I will use it responsibly as I have with all of my current credit obligations. Were you to approve my request, you can rest assured that you will have a loyal member for years to come.

I was also denied for the CC...reconed with no success; HOWEVER, I was approved for $5000 navchek. I'd give it a try! I was really surprised by the denial on the CC because I read everyone's success stories, but maybe it just wasn't my time. (probably should have waited until all my credit reports showed my new balances...darn app itch!!) I would give Navcheck a try though. Good luck!

You probably would not be able to recon now. I think the recon window is 30 days (or something like that) from denial. They would probably want to pull new reports. Good luck!

you can probably get it with a recon. be prepared to show proof of income and go for it. NFCU wants to help its members!

I. Cannot. Believe. It. I was approved for the navchek for $1000. That's all I asked for didn't want to ask for too much. I am still in complete shock! I applied for the nrewards credit card so waiting to hear back about that!!!! Can't believe my credit has improved that much that i got this line of credit!!!

That's awesome! Congrats! Keep us up to date on the rewards card. If they deny you just recon like i said in my previous post. I'm sure you will get it with a much better credit line than me. I dont have direct deposit through them yet. You have 3!!! There numerous reports in here of low starting credit limits that have jumped up into the 15-20 thousand dollar range in the span of a year. Navy is just incredible! Very aggressive lender. I'm about to pull the trigger on a credit limit increase next month.
