This is for a friend of mine who is 22 and a grad student .. she has no credit history and really no income. She wants to get a cc so she can start building a credit history. I originally suggested Discover IT for students. What do you guys think? Is there any others that is better? I really dont know much about non prime cards.
The Discover student is a good suggestion, I would also check with local CUs.

+1
Add Capitol one too.
My recommendations, in order:
Discover IT for students
Citi Dividend for students
Journey by Capital One
Citi Forward for students
also if their current bank or CU offers a student card, always worth a shot there, too!
All the best to them!
Thanks. That is the card I recommended but for some reason she wanted one that earned some sort of miles but I told her that is not possible with her current credit history.

Yup, with no history and much income i would suggest any of the cards listed by daybreak above. Journey is a great building card and Discover is also great, too. Your friend needs to start a credit history w/ any credit card now and look for mile(or other rewards) cards later..can't be picky right now
its gonna be very hard to get a credit card without an income....
well she got approved for discover IT for students .. told her to use it and pay it off and in 6 months to a year she can try for a better card
money given to her by her parent's or her boyfriend count as income. So even if she doesn't have income from a job, she still has income.
Congrats on approval on the card!!! Use it Responsibly!
