Re: need to vent about crapital one

You gotta use the card.  Usage is a big thing with them and I am willing to bet that increased usage (along with timely payments and not going over the limit) will increase anyone's chances of receiving a cli from them.

It sounds like you've done well with them, if you don't mind my asking (and we all seem to be good about allowing nosiness), do you use a large portion of your CL with them? Thanks to Sylvia, I think I have a good idea about the heavy-duty impact going OL with them can have, but what about running balances up higher on them and then paying them down?

With a $500 limit, it restricts what I can do with them but if they will respond more favorably to usage, then I suppose that's what I need to do. I'm just curious about what kind of usage will make a difference (apparently my little $5.00 charges didn't thrill them all that much!! lol!)

Re: need to vent about crapital one

Well, I do use Cap1 regularly and I try to pay off my balance by the due date.  My balance right now on my 1600 dollar limit card is zero.  On my other card (limit=1100 dollars), the balance is at $317; I paid 170 dollars on that balance today and that card will be at a zero balance by Monday of next week.  I plan to let the cards marinate for awhile and then in two months I plan to ask for a CLI on the card that is at the 1100 dollar limit.

Re: need to vent about crapital one

Cap one is messed up, First they closed my account, then they charged me a membership fee on a closed account with a zero balance.  So I called them on it and they said the account was open but it had a restriction on it and I can not use the card.  I told them I was looking at the letter saying the account is closed, they said they never sent a letter.  I said I was looking at the letter and read it to them.  They still say they never sent out the letter.  So as it stands I have a zero balance with a sort of closed card, cant us it have 1000 available balance, and a letter saying it is closed.  HUH go figure.  On my CR it says I have an open account this was over 5 months ago.

Re: need to vent about crapital one

i'm with the OP on this one! they continue to send me BT offers and convenience checks, and the offers would be good if i didn't have a measly $800 CL. a couple of months ago they sent me a letter saying that i deserve more from my account, and offered a number to call for an 'upgrade'. when i called the number they offered me 'rewards', which i said i would not be able to take advantage of on a card w/ an $800 limit. i said i would never use the card again if the limit was not raised... the CSR said she would check into it and a week later i received a letter telling me that the particular card that i have is not eligible for a CLI. what a waste of time. i'll continue to use my cards w/ 4-5 digit limits. funny thing is that if i were to apply now, i could probably get their top card offering... they need to learn to grow with their customers.

Well for the time being, they are growing with me. I am playing their game.

Re: need to vent about crapital one

I'm with Lando, C1 is one of my better cards. As I said in a previous post, I've had the card for a year and they increased my cl twice, the second time was a 2000 increase. Theywere also more than willing to lower my interest rate.

I've heard that with C1 you're not likely to get a increase upon request. I don't know for sure, I've never tried.

Re: need to vent about crapital one

Michelle, I suggest you call and talk to an account specialist about this. Call their backdoor number:

800-889-9939

or their Customer Relations Dept: 800-951-6951

Have that letter and your statement showing the A/F in front of you when you talk to them.

If you don't get satisfaction from the numbers you call, ask who can you direct me to to help me on this. Don't take no for an answer.

Good luck to you, and let us know how it turns out. Smiley Happy

Well, it appears that with Capital One, your mileage may vary.
