Do you know what your current FICO credit score is as of this week?

If your scores will allow, I would app for the Chase Freedom. 1% on everyhting, and 5% on the rotating bonus catagories. In addition, Chase is good to be in the door with.
In addition to a credit card, you might also want to consider a charge card with AMEX, the Zync.
Of course this all depends on your credit history and why you are in rebuilding mode.

with no active credit card, chase may not accept your app for either card, you may be get lucky to get the GE backed store card.

IF Chase freedom is denied what are my other options, I don't want to keep applying because that looks bad on report too doesn't it?

Yes it does!... By the way, do you have any negative information on your report? Chase does'n't like to see major derogatory events on your file.
