what to start my son on building his credit hes 19, has liternall nothing on his credit report we just did a free anual to make sure.

he applied for a boa and was denied so not sure which to apply for now, dont want a bunch of hard pulls on his report before he start building

A common first step is to make him an authorized user on one of your credit cards, which will give him a score.

He can then apply for secured or low-limit cards that dont do a thorough manual review of his credit report.

He can pick up a few junk cards to build his own credit and score.

I went to the credit union and opened a savings of 500.  Borrowed a secured loan for  500.00.  That will help him get installment going.  I took the 500 from the loan and opened a secured card as well.  That gave the revolving on the credit.  When I did the savings and loan, i did it in my name and my sons.  That way we are both getting credit reported.
