Usually there will be a draw period (when you can access it) and a repayment period (the time you have to pay off the LOC after the draw period ends). Most people just refi at the end of the draw period if they wish to continue using the line, some banks will let you extend the period without re-applying as well. All depends, the banker should be able to tell you easily what the terms are.
