I come home today and check the mail . I was surprised to see an envelope from USAA to my wife in her maiden name. We had never discussed anything about them . Come to find out she had insurance with them 10+ years ago . Not sure how they got our new address , But the light went on . This could be my way in hehe .
Is it true that once you have had insurance with them you are always open for membership? As i guess she got in years ago by her dad . Any info on this that you good folks could provide i would be greatful! How is the insurance pricewise ? Better than you can get elsewhere? (for those that have them)
or am confused about them and everyone can join?
I've been a member & carried their insurance products (auto, home, life) with them since 1987 when I went to OCS.
I love that I can call them 24/7 and talk to a professional, intelligent and customer-focused individual (quickly a live person comes on the phone how novel!). Honestly, I have never had one problem with them ever. I don't say that very much.
For me, that is so important when you are yanked in 12 different directions, deployed etc. It's important even if you are not. They create a subscriber's savings account for you and give a kickback every year (a % calculated off you premimums determined by the board of directors). Mine is up to around 4k without doing anything but paying my bill. Granted you do not get this $ until you leave them but its something I can pass on to my family. Also, each year, you get a dividend check avg. for me around $100-125. What insurance company does that today?
Their website is user-friendly and gives pertinent information and options for a wide variety of financial and insurance products as well as your account. Making claims is a breeeze and have had a few in my day without any delays or issues. I think their insurance products rates are competitive. I know no one who can touch their rates on recreational toys ie..motorcycles, snowmobiles, they let me initiate a policy and use it a few months then reduce it to just comprehensive coverage (non-use). I do not have to pay a years worth of full insurance coverage in the off seasons. Also, you get 3 options for paying with no penalty.
As far as banking, they are very good too. They are not my primary bank anymore, but still my experiences with them compare to the ins. products. I highly recommend them and yes if you can go for it, go for it! Congrats on the letter!
Super! Yes, she is eligible. In fact her membership will date back to her original insurance issuance.
And they seem to be a pretty good bank too! Their deposit rates are not the best, but the credit has been good to us.
Insurance can't be beat, IMO.
