Re: "How are you going to pay that balance?"

My answer would have been:

"I plan to pay it online on their website."  or "By using my checking account."

DING DING DING!  Right Answer!   (or whatever way the person planned on paying, those being popular ways).

The sarcastic answers are fun here, but not to the CSR (and esp not to a credit analyst), who at time may possibly note said answer on the account  (we LUV the sarcastic answers to seemingly silly questions here LOL but to CSRs those answers could be taken seriously).  The OP offered a bit too much info to the CSR\CA really, as others mentioned.

The simplest answer to the OP's question would have been one word "Online" (most CSR's\CA's are  used to hearing that actually when someone is used to paying online).  They didn't ask "where is the money coming from with which you're plan to pay that balance?".  Their question was intentionally vague, looking for the answer the possible customer would give on their interpretation of the question (ESP when speaking with a credit analyst as was the case here).  Credit analysts are trained to fish for answers with vague questions, the answers help them get a financial picture of the person applying.

As far as where funds could come from, if they had asked the source of income for payment, the answers are endless LOL:

My trust fund.

I dug change out of the couch.

My brokerage account.

Tip money from stripping at the club on weekends.

Rummage sale.

They've probably heard it all really.  And there really is no wrong answer.  However, funds from a trust or brokerage account will probably go over better with a CA than change dug from the couch Smiley Very Happy
