So I emailed Credit Services to ask what was the deal with the credit limit/lack thereof... here's what they said :
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your recent e-mail. We appreciate you taking time to contact us.
Instead of setting a specific credit limit for your account, WE (notice the WE) prefer to be as flexible as possible to meet your purchasing needs as wells as evaluating based on factors such as your Macy's account history as well as your external credit record. Since these factors change we determine what amount can be charged to your Macy's account at the time of the transaction.
If you have any further questions,,,, blah blah blah....
So I reply :
So what I am supposed to "roll-the-dice" and "hope" that you will approve the transaction ???? What a joke ... what lame a** came up with that concept to increase sales? I will DEFINITELY be sock-drawering this one !! Can't think of any benefits to the card hmmmm.... paying high retail for items, outrougeous interest, no known credit limit, doesn't help your score.....ummmmm yeah nitey nite DSNB
Don't get me wrong I did like the almost 11k credit limit showing $0 balance on my credit for util help but otherwise I think a lot of you on here are getting a little to worked up over a little bit of nothing. The only card members that I would think might run into more issues now than before is if when they took CL's away you had a $100 one and now you go try to use your card for $1000, you probably are going to be declined.
Most of us don't have a Pre-Set limit on an Amex Charge but you don't see those cardholders calling Amex and telling them they are stupid and I won't use my card in fear of being declined!
Just my thoughts but to each their own in comfort level.
OK... point well taken, I see it from another perspective...thanks.... I'm not scared to be declined, just would like to know what's attainable (within reason) and....I understand the Amex analogy, but Amex ( to me) carries a deserved level of respect
I started a thread a few weeks back referencing Macy's store cardholders accounts. By the end of this year, they will be reinstating credit limits to all store card accounts. At least, that's what i was informed of from credit services when i called. So, sit tight, assigned credit limits should be forthcoming.
I am also watching my account as well to see when this will happen.
What is MacV ?
Typo for Macy's
