Re: "Time for the Sock Drawer" Thread

Discover blew me off on a CLI since Nov. 2011 when I got the card. I kept trying online and it said it couldn't process it. I stopped using the card. Finally they sent me a new card with a year free interest on purchases and when I called to activate it, they asked me what they could do to earn back my business and I asked for an increase to 4000.  They gave it to me. Wish I'd asked for more. Maybe you'll get the same deal.

Re: "Time for the Sock Drawer" Thread

Sock drawer: Wells Fargo Visa, Discover, Freedom, United Explorer, PRG

Wallet: British Airways Visa, BCP, SPG, Amex Hilton Surpass, United Club Visa

Using the Surpass until I hit $3000 to get 20000 additional Hhonors points. Got 40,000 with first purchase. Then using the BA Visa to spend $9000 within the next year to get 20,000 additional points. Got 50,000 points after the first $1000 spent.

Re: "Time for the Sock Drawer" Thread

My rebuilder cards Merrick (2200cl), Cap1(2500cl) and Cap1((formerly Orchard) 2500cl) are all in the sock drawer. I'll probably use them each to charge a Starbucks in about 6 months just to make sure they stay alive.

In the wallet is new Discovery (1000cl), new PenFed cash rewards plat (5000cl) and newish Barclays reward from October (1800cl)

I'm really hoping I can jack up the Barclays cl to 5k in a couple of months

Which cards do you have that need that smelly sock treatment???

Discover is on my list..........Smiley Mad

Why Discover?

Keep blowing me off for a CLI.....had it for a year now.

I've had my Discover card since 1986.  I hadn't had a CLI since 1993.  I got a CLI after a hard pull in 2012 after I was told they wouldn't approve a CLI if it was a soft.  Had I the same attitude as you I wouldn't have a 26 year old TL on my history.  Think long term, LS....Smiley Happy especially with Discover - which is a card worth keeping, IMO.
