Can you tell me why I can't open a checking account online when I'm out of Chase's footprint. I'm in Boston
I even called a Chase branch in Manhattan and asked if they can mail me the paperwork, and Ill get everything notarized. Still said no. GRRR

I agree. I wish i had rolled with the freedom as opposed to the bce, just for the rewards link.Right, with this combo, no reason to use my BCE anymore, really.
BCE is good for 2% at Amazon still (or BCP for 3%).
Amex Accelerated Cash Rewards. BankAmericard Privileges with Travel Rewards. Amex Blue Cash Preferred. Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Now gardening until 2013. I assume gardening is a metaphor, like "book clubs" where all you do is drink wine.

It's up to you which card you want. Go to chase.com and compare the two cards. Calculate your spending habits into they card rewards system and see if the AF is worth it for you.

+ the 7% dividends. The sign up bonus 40K points worth $400 in cash or $500 in travel rewards pays for the card for 4-5 years. IMO I'd only get a card with an AF if my credit was bad, or I spend so much the advantages of an AF card pays for itself as compared to a no AF card.
EDIT: And the preferred has no foreign transaction fees, which is a huge convenience if you are travel outside the US

To transfer points, you need the CSP.
I'm not sure about the combo, but I'd bet the CSP is a pre-requisite. The 10 points (up to 100 per month) on the Freedom with this combo will more than pay the fee for the CSP. Not that hard to do, really. Use it for coffee daily. Pay your cable/phone bills in $1 increments. That's an extra 12,000 UR points per year.
This will be my next set-up.
