my credit card from sears was terminated. not that i didn't pay the bill but they said that they do a soft pull and my credit score was not high enough to keep the card. is this something new or has it always been this way? it's funny though because i get CLI's from my other cards.

Re: sears cc

Hi! I work for Sears and I deal with Sears cards (Citibank) all day long. I have never heard of anyone getting their card terminated because their credit score decreased. If this were the case, my card should have been closed a long time ago because my EQ FICO is currently 567. I am not shown any favoritism as a Sears employee because our cards are issued by Citibank. If you have a 0 balance and no activity on the card for a year, your card can be closed. Could that be the reason your card was closed? If this is the case, you can reapply for the card with a soft pull because you are still in the system. At any rate, I'm sorry this happened to you.

Re: sears cc

Is it possible to re-apply online with a soft pull, or do I have to call a live person to get a soft pull only?

If you apply online, you can bet it will be a hard pull. Call a CSR if you need to see about re-opening one and if they can do so with a soft pull.

May I ask you a question ?

I've been trying for literally every one of the past seven years to get an interest rate reduction for my Sears Mastercard and have been told the same answer by every special department that I can find out about -- "the interest rate is non-negotiable".

I've also for seven years been trying to find out an answer as to (a) whether it was Sears or Citibank that created such a policy, (b) what the thinking was behind creating such an unacceptable policy, and (c) when this policy will ever end.

I was also wondering if you have any insight into a special department for Sears cards called "the president's office". I had found a mention of it along with a phone number a few years ago. A year ago a Sears "account specialist" in the "Adverse Action Department" confirmed that the number and this office are still valid. Do you have any information about what this department can resolve that other departments can't ? I've been trying for two years to get my account re-reported on my credit reports after Sears/Citibank responded to a dispute by deleting the open/active account rather than by correcting the erroneous reporting.

I believe if you apply online it is a hard pull.  Your best bet is to go into Sears and apply in person. The soft pull will only apply if you had an open account with them before.

Re: sears cc

Yes, it is the new amex..Just cld by 6000 now putting me over on new low limit. There reason Transuion change from review is the only reason told and a letter would be mailed. So this was a Sears MC which has 24 months no interest charge on it so those payments will be made and nothing else. This was my one year present from them.
