Whogavemecredit.com is down right now so I can check. What is the deal with Sallie Mae's uPromise Credit card? Does barclay underwrite this card? If not, then who? If Barclay then I assume they pull TU???
Anyone know the credit scores that are typically getting approved for this card?
Thanks,
Duncan
I don't have the card but I think it's through barclay...
It is backed by Barclays, however the card is pretty bad and should be avoided. Customer service on this card is very bad. Reward structure is also riddled with many restrictions.
Maybe the reviews Ive read have been for it assoicated with another bank. The online reviews have been largely favorable. As the card is Barclay and pulls TU, I was interested in this as I'm currently trying to figure out which TU card to app for.
Appreciate your input. If anyone has another experience with this card (in particular with Barclay's version of it) please let me know.

I may add it to my list of cards to app for. Its either this or Walmart card. I only have 2 inquiries on TU and only one high balance (my student loan )
I just recently app'd and was instantly approved (1600 CL) for this card about a week and a half ago. They pulled TU for me and my TU Fico is 712, and I also have quite a few inquires on TU. I haven't used it yet but I got it because I've had a Upromise account for about a year and the bonus %5 cashback on top of the cashback through the site is pretty good since I shop though there already. And if you get a Sallie Mae High Yield Savings account, link it to your Upromise account, and do a direct deposit of $25 a month to it, they will do a yearly 10% match of your earnings. With all that combined, I think it's not a bad card to have.
The other rewards are decent. 4% at certain Upromise affiliated restaurants, 3% on Exxon and Mobil gas stations, 2% on movie theaters, 1% on other purchases.
