CapOne (there is some debate over whether this is a true preapproval, but I believe it is)

WaMu (You'll need a login ID to check for preapprovals.  Don't need to have an account with them to get a login ID on their site.)

may be a dumb question but i went to wamu site, made up a log in id clicked on credit cards, it said we have one offer waiting for you, but it brought up something to make me apply for a cc i thought it was a soft pull?? does that mean anything?

It's where you enter your information onto a form on their website, and they use it to do a soft pull on your credit report to see if they have any preapprovals for you, i.e., cards you might qualify for.

Then if you select one of those offers and actually apply, then they pull a hard inquiry and determine if you really do qualify for the offer, and if so, what your CL and APR will be.
