+1 This is a good start.

It's impossible to give you a list of all of them because CapOne has some, Barclays some, as does Chase, especially with some of the WaMu conversions.  Your best way of finding out with these creditors is looking at rewards, interest rates and AFs that don't come with some sort of perk or cash back.  .

First premier, credit one, continental finance, to name a few.

Some people say cap1 is subprime but it is really a YMMV situation.

This is always a fun topic.   Lets start the firestorm.

AMEX is not prime.

Big fees.

Financial Review.

Willingness to drop customers with good credit for the minor anomalies.  Not there when you need them.

Re: what credit cards are not considered to be "prime"

Cards are not prime. There are tiers of customers with those in the least risky segment being prime. Thus, you could say that cards targeted at non-prime borrowers are not prime. First Premier, Orchard, definitely fit into that. Some Capital One cards. Even if you don't like Amex, it is ridiculous to say it is a product that isn't targeted mostly at the prime credit tier.

Couldn't disagree more. The terms prime and subprime refer to the borrower, not the creditor. A credit product may be targeted towards either of these borrower groups but the creditor remains neutral.  If Centurion Bank wants to review YOUR ability to fulfil your obligations then that's their right. Big fees?  Maybe, but they arent for nothing. Every AF card Amex offers has some flavor of rewards. Compare that to true subprime targeted cards from others which include the AF, setup fees, insane APR's and zero rewards.  Plus if the Amex AF is too tough to swallow there are non-AF Amex cards that include rewards.

All cards are either prime or sub-prime!    Prime=low rate/fees    sub-prime=higher rate/fees   It's really not the card that determines this.  It's your credit profile!  IMO
