which CU is right for me?

I have 740-750 scores, no baddies and looking forward to open a couple more cards. I want a Nordstrom first and then a good CU card with decent limit and low interest. The only thing I'm worried about is my income. I'm self-employed and  do not have anything to show them as proof. Do you know any CU that will not ask for income verification and go with stated income like big banks do up to a certain limit?

You do. Your tax returns are proof of income.

Re: which CU is right for me?

PSECU if you can qualify (they pull EX).

Alliant when you first sign up online (if there are no glitches during process) will offer "pre-approved" credit and loans to many people upon membership application.  They pull EQ.

What other CC's do you have and what limits?  How old are your accounts?  Part of the instant approval has to do with the credit as well as score.  If you have established credit TL's, decent CL's and no derogs to go along with those scores, then you should get an offer from Alliant.

Discover can provide instant approvals.  And even when not instant, they usually don't require income verification.

Capital One has some prime cards, can provide instant decisions.  And when not instant, usually don't have any income verifications.

Anyway, for CU's on your description, I would say Alliant and PSECU.  Many of the others tend to often ask for docs.

Really?  I must be behind on my reading around here.  I thought they were still the top guys with Navy?  What's changed?  I was seriously thinking of adding them.
01/07 scores: Too scared to find out after looking at my free CRA reports
03/08 scores: TU: 660 EQ: 646 EX: 624
09/09 scores: TU: 735 EQ: 778 EX: ???
02/10 scores: TU: 779 EQ: 801 EX: 798 (home loan officer pull)
03/14 scores: TU 799 EQ: 809 EX: 817 (car loan credit union pull)
All that hard work paid off!!!! I'm now a happy home owner with an awesome interest rate!

CC Limits Garden Amex Clear $23000, USAA World Amex $15000, USAA Wold MasterCard $15000, BECU Visa $10,000, PenFed Visa $15000. Took a long time to get nice limits and low interest from that first app to BECU for $500 when I first started cleaning up my reports.

Actually- anyone with a military affiliation trends to love Navy Federal Credit Union. That is the CU to have.

And PENFED was warned against as they have to many people extremely conservative/strict lending standards, a veryt clunky website, terrible online/phone customer service and an annoying habit of making new customershave to "prove" themselves- in the form of being on account probation after opening an account.

They kinda just suck.

Really?  When I app'd with PenFed, they instantly approved me and never asked for docs.  I am self-employed and told them so.  I'm wondering if my nearly 14 years with my previous employer helped.

You were fortunate as a self-employed. PenFed has been particularly hard on self-employed credit applicants in the past. This is the sole reason for my comment. As far as I am concerned the remainder of the above comment is way off base. The concluding opinion is grotesque.

Some love PenFed, some hate them. Ditto for Chase, BofA, AmEx, Citi, and all the rest. It's an opinion. People are free to express opinions here, as long as they're not abusive.

Disagreeing publicly isn't abuse.
