Saving more and using less credit is practical advice regardless
of whether the economy is booming or times are tight.
And the article is just further confirmation that consumer lending
is set to contract by $2 Trillion over the next 18 months. Banks
that issue credit cards aren't taking any prisoners --- the reductions
appear to be indiscriminate and across the board.
What's particularly curious to me is that all the major banks that
took billions in bailout money don't seem to be in a hurry to deploy
it into the marketplace. But of course, if Uncle Sugar wants to throw
some more money their way, I'm sure they'd be first in line...
