Wow, how sad! I've been to Salinas, & it's a small area...Can't believe how these people are being discarded. Not surprising, I guess, but still.

I lived in Salinas for 6 yrs and managed several fitness franchises there for my mom. She still has two of those businesses open and a large number of our memebrs were HSBS employees. This could hurt.. more than the initial crash in the economy that resulted in closure of half our locations. On the other hand, she might end up with some better employees than we've had in the past IF the membership base stays stable.

There were the largest private employer in Salinas. When they announced the acquisition, Capital One said all the former HSBC employees would keep their jobs. It is a big blow to Salinas.
Gotta love Capitol One. Always doing things the best way they can....
