Not holding my breath; I just replaced both of my Amex cards, and at least one of them has been available with a chip for the last year.  Did the replacements have them?  Newp.

BOFA was the only bank in my portfolio that proactively switched my card to an EMV last year.

Granted it's not the same environment this year as before, but the article got it right, lender's aren't raring to go on this one.
