Re: This May Be It For GM And Ford

The thing is, not being bailed out doesn't automatically mean going out of business. Welcome to bankruptcy, folks. Yes, there will be serious layoffs and cutbacks, but it will force some improvements in efficiency.

The whole ludicrous structure can't continue to be propped up and bubble-gummed back together.

Perhaps Big Oil could bail out Detroit. Just empty the change outta the couches in the Exxon Mobil executive lounge.

I heard this line of reasoning not too long ago. It does make sense that the dealer might have to subsidize the addiction pipe.

Do you know how many hours in security lines this saves? It's like making money for the car companies.

Oh, I realize that. A big part is ego, but corporate aircraft generally save a lot of time by being able to fly direct, and as you say, to let passengers bypass all the junk that goes along with commercial aviation.

GM is parking 2 of its 5 aircraft, so that means they have some redundant pilots as well.

DH is a corporate pilot, and we're pretty much on edge.

Perhaps Congresscritters might also forego their private flights. Since we're all paying for that, let them and their personal Air Marshal fly coach.

The conversations regarding this subject could go on forever with different points of view.

Bottom line, Congress will not let the “BIG Three” go under. They will bail them out.
