Your Honor, We Can't Pay

A collection agency operating in Florida and Georgia has been ordered by the Federal Trade Commission to ... pay a judgment of $3.4 million to settle all FTC charges.
...
The FTC reported it suspended much of the $3.4 million judgment because the firm is unable to pay it.
...
The spokesman also noted that Rawlins may continue to operate as a collection agency.

What a crock!

Re: Your Honor, We Can't Pay

"The FTC reported it suspended much of the $3.4 million judgment because the firm is unable to pay it. But a FTC spokesman told insideARM that 'if they were not honest about their financial condition when the order was signed, and additional money is found, they will be liable for the whole amount.' Some assets of the defendants’ will be sold to satisfy part of the judgment."
Perhaps they should be sent to collections. Smiley Happy

Re: Your Honor, We Can't Pay

Heck yes the Fed can turnthem over to collections.  They will do it to John Q for a student loan...lol!!! Just hilarious that a collection agency can say, but we can pay, stay in business and not be forced into bankruptcy like John Q would.  Ahhhhh! Our government and business.  The bad part about this is that this company was knowingly breaking the law, not trying to feed a family or just using bad judgement.

Not exactly the same procedure as a PFD.

You write a check to a 527.
