Have been in a DMP since October 2011, have an existing balance of $47 from September 2011 (things were hectic), but regular payments have been occuring monthly with the DMP. However, in July, I had some financial trouble and changed the DMP withdrawal (and therefore creditor payments) to 7 days later for just that month. I now have a late payment for July reflecting on my credit report and Capital One is now a negative account. I spoke to them and asked if they could remove it as a goodwill courtesy if I were to bring the account current, but they claim it goes against their policy to remove any negative items from credit reports as it's not a bank error. I'm planning to write Capital One a letter (I've already disputed the item with all 3 bureaus, no avail), but wanted to know if anyone had anything similar happen and were successful?
Thanks for your help guys!
Definitely send the GW letter. You make get told no a few times, but don't give up. Just be nice and sweet.
