Here is a copy of my goodwill letter for recent college grads.  This letter is written for collection agencies that I paid off.  The collection is paid in full but still reflects negative history on my credit report.

Washington Mutual / Providian:

I am a recent college graduate who is taking the daunting task of improving my credit.  After reviewing my credit reports, there is an old collection account listed bearing the name Washington Mutual/Providian.

I am writing to request that a "goodwill" adjustment be provided to each of three credit agencies since the account balance is now zero ($0.00), as I have paid the account out in full.

It is my sincere hope that Washington Mutual/Providian is willing to assist me with removing this blemish from my credit reports.  Please let me know if any additional documentation is needed to assist in achieving a positive outcome.
