Accounts Receivable Mgmt?!? EDITED found out what it is for.. still fraud

I have an inquiry on my TU CR from June 16th from Accounts Receivable Mgmt. That's all it said I do not recall authorized anyone to check my credit this month EXCEPT for BOA which is a soft pull. Has anyone ever heard of this or know what it could be from?

Ok so I called ARM, very rude- now its for wachovia. The account numbers were stolen back in January and the account was supposed to be at 0 dollars and closed. Apparently, they began charging me 5.95 a month for 2 months for the account being opened and not being used. I never received any type of notice for this at all or that the account was still open. So they charged me 12 bucks plus 40 dollars for recovery/closing the account. If I wouldn't have pulled my TU report, I would've never know this was even going on. According to ARM, they sent me notices- I haven't received anything from them or Wachovia. Now, I'm trying to get ahold of a recovery specialist to take care of this matter. I've been hung up twice while on hold and have been transfered four times.. with no luck on talking to anyone whos knows what they are doing...

Re: Accounts Receivable Mgmt?!?

ARM is a debt collector. Chances are, they were checking your credit to possibly see if you're good for contacting for the debt you owe.

Was it a hard pull or a soft pull?

Do you have any unpaid debts? If so, when do you believe you incurred it/them? And what state are you in?

If you have unpaid debts, knowing what state you're in will tell us your statute of limitations on legal action ... therefore giving you more leverage in getting the potential debt collector to pay-for-delete IF you're out of SoL.

Re: Accounts Receivable Mgmt?!?

The only outstanding debt that I have is to the Hyatt regency for a cancellation fee for our wedding, which was @ 1500. I've contacted them all ready in December for making payments, and they have agreed. (which I just actually received my balance today showing my payments I've all ready made.) So that should'nt be in collections. All my other accounts are in good standing and are actually being paid off too. Other than that, I have no other debts, that's why I'm so confused. Do you know how I could get in touch with them or should I just leave it alone?

Ok I just called the Hyatt and she said it wasn't them. That my payments were fine.

It was a hard pull- which wasn't authorized so I'm thinking about getting in touch with them to see what's up...

Oh yeah and I'm in South Carolina

Good to hear.

Out of curiosity and since you seemed baffled for a while yourself, what sort of debt was it?  (If you want to share.  I just need some closure. LOL.)

Re: Accounts Receivable Mgmt?!?

it was overages on my checking account for a "dormacy" fee for not using the account.. i thought the account was closed 3 months ago. (we told them to close it after someone got ahold of my account numbers and was charging to our card)

Still have a d**** inquiry on my report now from them.. Don't guess there's any chance of getting it removed... The guy @ ARM said they didn't need my permission to run my credit.

Ahh, yes, I see that you edited your original post to include that information.  I missed that before I posted my question above.

According to a relatively recent decision in the 9th Circuit, CAs do not have PP to pull a hard inquiry when they are collecting on a non-credit-related transaction.  I wouldn't think checking account overage fees are credit-related.

If it were me, I would pursue it as a non-PP inquiry.

Post on Rebuilding Your Credit and ask about how to handle a non-PP inquiry.

You may also want to Google the case of Pintos v. Pacific Creditors Association.
