Adding an installment loan.

I am wondering about getting an installment loan.  Other than Prosper, are there some good options other than Prosper? Is Prosper pretty good for consolidating debt?  Etc....

A credit union is always an option worth exploring.

Re: Adding an installment loan.

Best advice I got was a share secured loan at a credit union. There's a thread in general credit that goes over this in more detail, but a credit union will beat prosper or lending club on interest hands down.

I opened an account at mine and got a LOC, a credit card and a car loan on the same credit pull! LOC and CC at 10.25% and the car loan at 3.2%.

You should check out the thread on share secured loans. If you get the loan for a higher amount and immediately pay back what you are over, your installment balance to loan amount will be a positive on your score.

Re: Adding an installment loan.

For peer lending, check Propser, SoFi, LendingClub, and Promise Loans. Results may vary significanlty.

Also check with your bank and/or credit union, and shop around to a couple of additional local banks/CUs.

Investing the time to shop can save you a *lot* in interest.
