Do what Orchard said - dispute it as "not mine" with the CRA.

Re: Am I a lost cause?

THERE ARE NO LOST CAUSES!!

With patience and by following the advice you get here, you can succeed!

I am living proof!

Read this:

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/fico/board/message?board.id=generalcredit&thread.id=21283

And things have gotten even better for me in the last week!

I got a new car with a decent APR and no money down AND my FICO EQ score went up 84 points in 8 days.

THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE WHERE THERE IS A WILL TO SUCCEED!

So is anything on the EX and TU reports from MyFico? I presume you bought either Suze Orman or ScoreWatch.

Nope, nothing on experian or transunion. Yes, I am using Suze Orman's product.

Re: Am I a lost cause?

Yes, you are exactly right - it was accompanied by an error message. I am pretty new to this, so I am probably not using the right terms. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the information. When I first set out to tackle repairing my credit, I have to admt, I felt completely overwhelmed. But I feel so much better now after getting so much help from all of you. Thank you!

OK, if you don't have any open CCs at all, apply for one. Probably only going to get a secured CC, but that's OK. It's still a CC, it's still revolving debt, and you want some on your CRs.

BofA 99/500 CC gets talked up a lot here. HSBC is another, but I'm given to understand they won't convert a secured CC to an unsecured. I think Cap 1 secured will convert to unsecured later.
