Americredit

Has anyone had any luck with getting any GW from these people?

I had a good history with only 2, 30 day lates. The last payment was 5 times my regular payment. I worked out an agreement where I could continue to make my regular payment until it was paid off. What I didn't realize was they reported me 30, 60 ,90 and 120+ late while I was doing it.

Any positive contact info is appreciated.

Thanks

It won't hurt to try yourself regardless if someone else was or wasn't able to get a GW.  Good luck!

Movement?

I have been sending GW letters to the President and the CFO for a few weeks now. I got a letter in the mail today asking me to contact a customer service number to provide additional information re: my request. Hope? I'm trying not to get too worked up about it; it may be just another "no". I'm calling in the morning. I'll let you all know if I have any luck.

Of course if it is another "no" I shall redouble my letter writing campain. The account is PIF. I've nothing but a little postage to loose and getting a 120+ late off of my reports to gain. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Keep at it! I'm working a route on my end....if it pans out here, I'll post back. It involves research over the entire history of the accounts. It is very slow-going.

update:

I called the AmeriCredit service center, as the letter I received requested. After updating my information they reiterated the company line "there is nothing we can do". I was able to talk to a supervisor who also sang the same song but he was willing to give me the name and contact information of the next person up the chain. I will continue the saga on Monday.

All this begs a question. When you make a payment arrangement with a company, and that arrangement has the potential to have a severe negative impact on your credit, is the company under any legal obligation to disclose such information? Trying to build a case, for when I finally get to the top brass, so I come across as knowledgeable on the subject.

Thanks,as always, for all your help.

Re: Americredit - update

I have seen it happen before.  Someone enters a payment plan and gets doused with lates.  Reason being,  the monthly minimums were not being made.

But I agree that they should tell you up front what will happen.  I do not know if they legally have to.  It more than likely goes back to the fine print in the original agreement.

I heard rumors of that once too, but it never happened. IMO, it would be a bad thing if they went under with lates still reporting. I remember reading post after post about Providian and WaMu, where Providian couldn't remove the lates because they were bought out and WaMu wasn't one to help. Now the same is with Chase and WaMu.
