An authorized user question

Hi all,

I was previously listed as an authorized user on a family members account. The person has had some financial issues and cant pay their cards. I have been removed as an authorized user but will that stop the card from automatically reporting to my credit report anymore? If not should i dispute it?

Re: An authorized user question

It depends on the card from my experience. Cap1 deleted my mom's AU card that she had on my hubby's account on the next update. Walmart however, hasn't. Unless you want it off fairly quickly you can wait for the next update since disputes can take up to 30 days for results.

You need to check your reports, you may need to dispute it to remove it from your reports. Good luck.

Re: An authorized user question

In the past I've seen both scenarios happen... sometimes the reporting stops automatically and the account is simply removed from the AU report, and other times a dispute is required.

I'll also add that in the cases where a dispute was required it was really straight-forward and resolved quickly.

Re: An authorized user question

I was just removed as AU with Cap One.  The account is still on my report reporting 0 balance and paid (Experian).
