Applying for refi mortgage - online OK?

Hi Again
Hopefully this is my last question for awhile as I absorb all the information here.  Is it better to apply for mortgages online or locally?  I have heard that if you apply online it can hurt your score more.  Just don't know where I can get the best deal.  My EQ & TU are both is 650 range - hope to get somewhat higher in the next month or so.  Would love to get some cash out to add on to house, but am not too sure if I will be able to do that or not yet.
Thanks!  Lynn

"  I have heard that if you apply online it can hurt your score more. "

Where did you hear that? Totally false. In terms of scoring, it makes no difference where or how you apply.
