Not sure if this is where to post this, but I did have some Payday loans back in 2010 that I didn't "pay back", they were these online payday loans. I know I had 2 that went into collections. They leave messages on my phone saying I will be prosecuted and taken to jail.. now they are calling my 84 year old father (how they got his # i don't know). I have paid these loans back 10 fold just in interest. I'm not even sure the name of the original loan company. Is there anything I can do to report them for threats and harrassment with just the phone number that these calls are coming from? My dad almost paid them money....I know payday loans are the devil, but literally all the money they took out of my account was way more than the loan amount in late charges, interest, etc....I do regret geting them, but it was during some seriously rough times...ugh
First, read FDCPA 804 and 805, which prevent communications with any third party other than to obtain location information (which is usually limited to one such call), and expressly prohbiit informing any third party that the consumer owes any debt.
Then file a complaint with the CFPB and your state enforcement agency and/or AG.
