I just saw this notice from CFPB. They've taken their first action against a payday lender & full refunds are available for affected consumers. Details can be found at their website: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/our-first-enforcement-action-against-a-payday-lender/
glad they got sued! i remeber before i filed chapter 7 i had taken out a payday loan and paid it in full through the check i had given them. the company in question then debited for two additional checks for the same ammount. When i disputed the other two with my bank, my bank refunded the money and this is where it got interesting. a report from the payday loan company ended on my credit report even though i had proof i had paid them. these companies should all be put out of business with their 474% loans!
Yep, they can be devious and that impossible rate is devistating for those who can least afford it. I'm glad to see CFPB taking them on & hope they continue with many more suits agains these payday operations!
