Cap1 PIF collection shows as charge off

Had an account with Cap1 that went to collections. I paid the balance in full directly to Cap1 (because the CA/lawfirm kept screwing up the check by phone). The account still shows up as a charge off so it looks like I did not pay the balance in full. What should I do--if anything

I would suspect that Cap1 did not report the PIF to the CA, who in turn, did NOT report the PIF to the CRA's. First step that I would do, would be to contact Cap1 and get a PIF verification letter from them, PLUS instruct them to send that to the CA, AND follow up with the CA that they did indeed receive the letter from Cap1. THEN instruct the CA to report the verified PIF to the CRA's. Just my opinion. Perhaps someone else could maybe give you some simpler opinion/advice. I tend to to things the long and drawn out way. lol. Good luck to you
