Re: Capital One Credit Limit Question

August '12 initial $300 with them saying with good standing to 500. A few months later they increased it to 1300. There it stood with that CL, till last month when I finally hit the luv button. It went up to a CL of 3300.

Re: Capital One Credit Limit Question

2003ish: $500 starting limit

2005ish: ~$3.5k then $4.5k (mainly to match a Bank of America $4.5k starting limit)

2013: bumped to $7.5k by the EO (to one up the PenFed $7k starting limit)

Any requests in between were pretty much declined due to "conservative lender" policy as most are aware of.

I was told by the EO that I can request an increase roughly every 6 months which was a few months ago but I haven't tried yet.

Re: Capital One Credit Limit Question

1st card opened 10/2009  CL  $300  6 month auto CLI to $500. then nothing. I requested a CLI 04/2013 and was informed CLIs were not allowed on this type of card. Finally received a surprise CLI 11/2013 to $1500 without my asking.

2nd card pre-approved 04/2011  CL  $500  3 month auto CLI to $750  09/2013 to $2750 without asking

3rd card HSBC Discover opened 02/2011  CL $500 bought by Capital One in 2012 or 2013. Customer Service tells me this card is not eligible ever for a CLI and the EO confirmed this fact.  The EO also told me this month my other 2 cards were eligible for a CLI yet when I applied I was denied.

Re: Capital One Credit Limit Question

I have been rebuilding credit for the past few years and made the mistake of opening up several capital one credit cards in 2012.

I say it was a mistake because those are my oldest credit cards and I am stuck with 4 from capital one.

Capital one plaitinum- started with 300 then CL to 500 then CL to 1000. Card is about 2 years old.

Capital one platiunum - just pc'd to quicksilver one last month and credit line increase from 750 to 1250 and I have three of them.

So my FICO score is around 680, I have a bank of america cash rewards credit card, barclays apple, merrick bank visa, target red card, and gap card.

I must say, capital one love button works only after your last credit limit increase is at least 6 months old. Pay more than minimum, early multiple times a month and you will be eligable for credit limit increases.

All I want is my bank of america credit card, one capital one card  and one day be eligable for an amex charge card.

Re: Capital One Credit Limit Question

Unfortunately I don't have the exact dates however my progression looked like this:

$300 (initial CL with Orchard Bank/HSBC - had with them until cap one took it over) > $300 initially with Cap One > $800 (after a few months - via luv button) > $1500 recon'd through EO > recently CLI to $4000 (EO again)

For all of us with a relationship(good or bad) with Capital One, what was your starting CL versus what you have at present?

5/11 $500>$750(auto-CLI)>$1250(luv button)>$5k(FB complaint 9/13)

Whats in your wallet?

I started at $500>$750>$1,750>$3,000

I still closed their card though because I never used it due to the low limit and how much I put through my cards each month.
